To commemorate this memorable episode in the history of Vollezele, the statue of Brillant was unveiled on Saturday 12 August 2000 after an academic session with exhibition. Ron Deblaere from Lichtervelde is the artist who immortalized Brillant in bronze. It is a gift to Vollezele from the Beaulieu company from Wielsbeke. On Sunday 13 August 2000, a historic procession with the famous Belgian draught horse in the leading role passed through the streets. On Wednesday, September 20, 2000, a commemorative plaque was placed at the four main stud farms during a short ceremony.
