Oldebroek is a town in the Dutch province of Gelderland. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, the core of Oldebroek and the outlying area has more than 6,310 inhabitants. The name is a corruption of Broek or Oldebruch and was first mentioned in the 14th century. When in 1396 the nearby town of Elburg was surrounded by a ring wall, Oldebroek became subservient to Elburg. This gave the inhabitants of Oldebroek the opportunity to secure their possessions within the walls of the fortress of Elburg in case of enemy attacks.
