Since the beginning of this century, most of the shoppingstreets of Marousi such as Ermou became pedestrian street. It makes the town great to stroll around. But take care when the pedestrian street crosses a street with traffic. Greek drivers do not tend to stop when pedestrians cross the street, even at a pedestrian crossing. I have the impression it even triggers them to accelerate.
Ermou is the main shoppingstreet of Marousi. It is also the main street that takes you to the metro station of Marousi.

Ermou is always full of activity, especially in the morning and evening. The afternoons are more quiet.
Most of the pedestrian streets have a part of the road with a specific profile so blind people can ‘feel’ where to walk and if they get close to a crossing.
Because these ‘lanes’ have a very slippery and uneven profile, the locals made fun of it by saying that the mayor of Marousi also had a pratice of podiatry.
