Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi (Fountain of the Four Rivers) is a fountain in the Piazza Navona in Rome, Italy. It was designed in 1651 by Gian Lorenzo Bernini for Pope Innocent X whose family palace, the Palazzo Pamphili, faced onto the piazza as did the church of Sant’Agnese in Agone of which Innocent was the sponsor.

Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi is the location of a famous scene in the book and movie “Angels and Demons” of Dan Brown. It is located in the Piazza Navona. It is a masterpiece of Gianlorenzo Bernini’s.

In the book Angels and Demons, the fourth Preferiti was branded with a Water ambigram and was chained and left to drown at the bottom of a large fountain. It represents one of the four primordial elements of the Illuminati: water.
