The mill was built in 1614 in Zaandam as a sawmill. In 1891 the mill was shipped to Beesel and built on the small Solberg. The mill was redesigned to serve as a flour mill. The mill remained in operation until the 1960s. In 1982-1983 the mill was restored and moved to the banks of the Meuse. Since then, the mill has been in regular operation on a voluntary basis. The mill has been flooded four times in recent decades after flooding of the Meuse. That is why on 9 September 2014 the mill was placed 60 metres inland at a higher location.
