Old Town Hall

Source: GroeneHartstocht

The old town hall is located on the Markt in Buren in Gelderland and was in use from 1555 to 1985.
The building was bought on 22 January 1554 by mayor Griet Wijnen for 525 silver Keysers guilders, before the purchase the town hall was a private residence and until 1608 the town hall looked like an ordinary house, but the mayor and aldermen of Buren commissioned Adriaen Frederikszoon to renovate the building. It then got a stepped gable with a stone statuette on each step and a stone landing with figurines on the stair railing. The lantern on top of the roof was also placed during this renovation.
