In Midvinterduell, popularly called “The Milking Stool”, farmer Egon fights against superior forces in the form of the highway department. In this pastry shop, Bengtsson and his assistant snack on liver paste sandwiches. Bengtsson’s girlfriend thinks he’s gone too far in his zeal to reach higher up the job ladder, and so she laces his coffee with a good deal of salt.

Coffee is often a recurring point in Molin’s films.

Do you remember Hedman’s café, run by Lilian, in Trä Kärlekar ? The sign on the outside is the only thing left from that time. The local baker in Öregrund and the café are today a pastry shop and café with a large outdoor serving area in the courtyard. A perfect site above the harbour, which lies only a few minutes’ walk away.

The Öregrundslimpa is a local speciality, baked from sourdough.
