A Tenencia is one of Sada's fishermen's districts as well as one of the most historic areas of the town. If you go south, down Praciña do Conde street, you will discover beautiful fishermen's houses whose origins date back to the mid-nineteenth century.
Because of its location at sea level, A Tenencia retains a different structure from other fishermen's districts of Sada, such as the Fontán district, located high up, opposite the fishing port that bears its name.
Although there is no uniform style in the seafaring architecture, if you continue along the promenade, you will see that there is a predominant model. Small two-storey houses, situated between dividing walls and with wooden walkways on the upper floor.
During your journey to A Pescadería Square, you will see the modernist influence on the houses' renovations, which replaced the wooden frames and balconies with concrete structures and small plant reliefs.
Although Modernism lefts its mark on the small fishing households, in José Morzo Street, you can still find some original houses in good condition.
