D' Olde Zwarver is an octagonal scaffolding mill in Kampen from 1842. In 1952 the mill was moved to its current location on the IJssel.Because the then owner of the mill, "van Heel's Condensed Milk Company", wanted to expand, the mill would initially be demolished. This was met with resistance among the population. The number of mills in the Netherlands had already decreased considerably at that time and this mill was the last in Kampen. As a result of the reactions, the factory offered to hand over the mill to the municipality of Kampen. They found a new place for the mill at the Herkenhoofd, which was relatively close to the original site, and therefore the idea arose to move the mill in its entirety. That hadn't been done before. On April 7, 1952, the mill was moved to its current location on a low-loader with 48 wheels. The mill owes its name to this spectacular move.
