Amerigo Vespucci

The church Chiesa di San Salvatore a Ognissanti contains the tombs of Americano Vespucci and Sandro Botticelli. Giotto’s celebrated Madonna and Child with angels, now in the Uffizi, was painted for the high altar, about 1310.

The Portico degli Uffizi is the covered courtyard outside the Uffizi Gallery. Around the walls of the courtyard are statues of scientists, artists and statesmen important to Florentine history.
