Description by the author

Go - for example at the time of flowering - to the square of the church of Foal (V). With the church on the left and the grotto of Lourdes on the right, start in the direction of Klein-Gelmen. Ignore the Diepestraat on the left, then turn right onto the first street. You climb gently and at the fork, with a white chapel from 1765, you stay on the right. You pass an orchard, pass a detached house and further between the fields. The narrow paved road turns into an even narrower concrete road and you walk through a slightly hilly open agricultural landscape. On the right you can see the bell tower of the church of Gutschoven. You pass a large orchard with low plantings in between, then descend by a hollow road. When you exit, ignore a road on the right and continue to the T-junction. On the right, in the distance, you can see the church of Voort and the castle of Tornaco. Left. You walk on a narrow paved road with a strip of grass in the middle. On the left, the bell tower of Foal rises above the fields. Take a look back from time to time, the view is worth it. Turn left onto the T. The views continue to charm. You pass an orchard and a grove, then descend by a hollow road to Foal. On the left, you see the white chapel you just passed. You arrive at a crossroads with another chapel. Walk straight into Kasteelstraat. On the right is the park with the 18th century castle Donnea 1, of which you have a first impression through the trees. At one door, you get a nicer picture. Ignore the Diepestraat again on the left, then turn into the first street on the right and continue walking along the castle grounds. At a front door you get a different view of the castle. Walk a little further to the junction with bike exit 159. Choose the cul-de-sac on the right. A few concrete flower boxes make through traffic impossible. You walk along a stream, which bears the original name of Beek and behind which lies the estate of Heers Castle. After another set of flower boxes, you will return to civilization. On the left you can see the church of Heers and the castle, which is being restored. Just after house No. 4, take the path to the church on the left and follow it to the end. Left. Follow the Weerstandersstraat towards the church until you can turn right into Burggraaf Desmaisièresstraat. It takes you to the N784. Walk left on the cycle path to the late Gothic-style fortified castle of Heers 2 with features from the 15th and 16th centuries. Carefully cross the roadway and enter the beautiful driveway. In the background, a picnic area is beautifully located near the chapel of the Wooden Lord 3, which clearly belongs to Heers Castle. Leave the chapel on the right and go up to the T-junction. Enjoy the view with Heers Castle and the village centres of Heers and Foal. Then turn right and walk between the large orchard and football fields of K. Heers VV until you reach a crossroads. Turn left here and follow the Raes Van Heerslaan until, 300 m further, you can turn left onto the first road. You now walk on a narrow ribbon of concrete, through an impressive agricultural landscape with beautiful views. The road turns right and becomes slightly hollow. You pass a grove and at the fork you take the "hairpin bend" to the left. You walk next to the Weirekensbeek and climb with a turn to a beautiful view. On the left Heers and the football fields, diagonally left Foal and a low-stemmed orchard and for the rest a gigantic open agricultural landscape. At the crossroads, you walk straight. Do not worry about secondary roads, pass the Veulen agglomeration sign and go up to the T-junction. Cross the road, turn left a few meters and you are back to your starting point.
