The Wiener Lokalbahn is a train service between Vienna and Baden in the metropolitan area of Vienna operated by the Wiener Lokalbahnen public company. From the first stop at Vienna State Opera to the Schedifkaplatz tram stop in the Meidling district, the service uses the infrastructure of Vienna's tram network (except for the Wolfganggasse and Schedifkaplatz tram stops). From Schedifkaplatz in Vienna to Leesdorf in Baden (25 km, double-track light rail) and Leesdorf to Josefsplatz (2 km, tram), the train service has its own infrastructure, also maintained by the Wiener Lokalbahnen public company. The entire Wiener Lokalbahn is part of the Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region and in 2013, 35,000 passengers used the service per day.
