Jochberg: Schützenkogel & Wildalm

This challenging hike takes you through the stunning landscapes of the Kitzbüheler Alps in Jochberg. Begin in the town center, then ascend for breathtaking views of Wilder Kaiser and towns of the Kitzbühel region.

The initial ascent is a little monotonous as it follows a gravel road (Leitenweg) for about 5 kms. Near a small farmhouse you can leave the gravel road, starting a small descent while crossing an alpine meadow. It offers a great view of the Wilder Kaiser mountain range in the North and the charming towns in the valley below. After that, a trail leads you through serene forests, offering a refreshing immersion in nature, before the real challenge begins: the steep ascent to the summit of Schützenkogel. Conquer this rugged ridge and be rewarded with unparalleled panoramic views that stretch as far as the eye can see.

After soaking in the alpine scenery, descend to the tranquil oasis of Wildalm mountain hut, where you can recharge amidst the alpine beauty. It's an authentic mountain hut with not a big amount of visitors, so there is no guarantee that it will be open.

With a blend of scenic splendor, challenging climbs, and serene moments in nature, this 20km route promises an unforgettable mountain hiking experience, spanning approximately 5 and a half hours. There is plenty of parking space available near the KitzSki cable car where the route begins.
