These rides loop around part of Gungahlin, a northern district of Canberra. The name Gungahlin, pronounced ?Goongarline?, is a regional Aboriginal word meaning ?little rocky hill?. Although Gungahlin is one of Canberra?s most recent urban development areas, it has a long European history, and a much longer Aboriginal history. Ginninderra Village was established in 1826 as a private village, and by 1850 it had developed into a thriving centre which included homesteads, a police station, post office and a school. The site of the old Ginninderra Village is now home to Gold Creek Village and Federation Square.
