Baščaršija is the old bazaar of Sarajevo and the historical and cultural center of the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, built under Ottoman rule. It is located on the north bank of the Miljacka River, in the municipality of Stari Grad.
In the vicinity of Baščaršija there are important historical buildings such as the Gazi Husrev-Beg Mosque, the Clock Tower, the Emperor's Mosque, the Turkish Baths of Isa-bey, the Town Hall of Vijećnica, the Gazi Husrev Beybezistan and the public fountain of Sebilj.
