Ronquières has the eighth wonder of the world, built in 1968: the slope of Ronquières. Thanks to an ingenious design, ships get up and down 68 meters on the canal. The ships are elevetad by tanks of 91 meter long, filled with water. Over a distance of 1400 meter, teh tanks are pulled to conenct to a an other section of the canal. At the highest point, there is a tower of 150m high, containing the engine room.

You can visit the tower to see this marvel of engineering.
