The Sint-Martinuskerk is a 17th-century church building in the Belgian municipality of Duffel. The church is located opposite the Convent of Betlehem.De high tower, which overlooked the village bowl, was an easy target for the advancing German enemy troops during the First World War in 1914. On October 1, 1914, the Beigian army government decided to set fire to the spire. Due to the falling debris, part of the church building went up in flames and the heavy shelling during the following days reduced the church to a mess.
