Victor Horta is one of the great Art Nouveau architects from Europe. He was born in Ghent in 1861 as, the son of a shoemaker. The first years of his career he worked as an interior designer in Montmartre in Paris. One of his major works is the Solvay House in the Avenue Louise (1894). A good Art Deco example from his hand can be found near the rue Baron Horta: Palais des Beaux Arts, or Bozar. This' 'hidden temple'' is masterly in all its complexity.
