This wooden stake mill on a tower shed comes from Westkapelle where it was built in 1771. It was demolished after World War I and brought to Gits. At the end of the Grijspeerdstraat, near the border with Torhout, it was rebuilt. However, the mill was demolished for a second time and transferred to the Koolskampstraat. It was restored and made ready for grinding again.
The Grijspeerdmolen of Gits was the focus of the "Bakelandt" comic strip "The Beast of Gits".
