Its history goes back to at least 1198 with the Lords of Vloethem. She was also responsible for the reclamation of the aforementioned Vloethemveld and the reclamation of many ponds. After the death of the last farmer at the end of the last century, this historic farm seemed doomed to decline. However, thanks to a family member, she was saved from destruction and even protected as a monument. The preservation and restoration of the orchard and the moat was done by the non-profit organisation Regionaal Landschap Houtland. The buildings are currently undergoing thorough restoration.
