Eglise Saint-Lambert

 
Two large chestnut trees frame the entrance to this listed Romanesque church which was restored in the 1960’s.The old graveyard around the church has been covered with a beautiful lawn.
The low narrow doorways through which the faithful entered in the Middle Ages have been bricked up. For the believer they recall the words of the gospel: “It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”
Nevertheless, inside, two of the wealthy and powerful of former times are buried, recumbent in their privileged way: Alexis and his wife.
The grey painted walls should be repainted white. Formerly, the building was a sanctuary and a military post as the loop-holes are still visible. Then, respect for others was questionable. Insecurity does not date from today.
The castle, which is worth seeing, is very close to Corroy and can be visited on Sundays and holidays from May to September and Saturdays and Sundays in July and August.
