Castle 'Vieux Fourneau'
Upon entering Hamoir, attention is drawn to the beautiful Vieux Fourneau castle and its huge séquoïa tree. Iron ore used to be mined in the region and this castle is one of the rich remains of that time. It was built in the 17th century by the Vroode family. The castle was used for industrial purposes. However, the old oven dates back to the 15th century. The castle has been rebuilt several times. Mainly in the 18th century it was converted into a stately home. In 1951 the municipality became the property and today it serves as a town hall.
