Renko Head

Renko Head is a sculpture by Johan Tahon. The image is a kind of stillness, reflection and contemplation. In that sense, the image comes into its own very well at the rest and care home. It exudes the silence and tranquility that the residents need. Johan Tahon: "What is also very important to me is the mystery and the mystery. The atmosphere. People don't need to know immediately what it's about, but are left with a riddle that can possibly be solved. I like that." Many of Johan Tahon's creations are large standing figures. "Renko Head is also in that line," says Johan Tahon. "You have to imagine that the head is part of a complete sculpture. Just think how big the body is that comes underneath. It's a piece of the giants I usually make. There in Wijtschate they have the head of such a giant. The body does not exist and will never be made. But imaginarily it would be a huge fig. I think that's nice to make huge monuments, and figures. They are exactly dreamed creatures; as if we were in a dream state and actually see those figures appear."
