This bunker was captured during the Battle of the Polygon Forest on 26 September 1917 by the 56th Battalion, which was part of the 5th Australian Division, after heavy resistance by the Germans. The bunker was named 'Scott Post' in memory of Lieutenant Colonel Humphrey Scott, the battalion's commander, who carried out the attack. Three days later he was killed a few hundred yards away, near the hill northeast of this place. During the battle of the 'Broodseinde' on 4 October 1917, this bunker was used as battalion headquarters. On the west side you can still see traces of the bomb hits. On the upper right corner you can still see the imprint of a projectile.
