The bronze Ros Beyaert (by Aloïs De Beule and Domien Ingels) and the sculpture group "Beauty, Power and Wisdom" (by Jules-Pierre van Biesbroeck) are scarce remnants of the 1913 World's Fair. Although, in his own words, "a definite enemy of world exhibitions", Karel van de Woestijne visited the Ghent World Exhibition repeatedly: "You cannot imagine, Herman, how our Ghent World Exhibition hangs my throat," he wrote on 29 July. " It almost always rains, and there is hardly anyone there" (The Clay Towers). Nevertheless, he devoted many fascinating pages to the Ghent "world's fair" in the Nieuwe Rotterdamsche Courant.
