On Westmolengeest, along the steenweg on Zandvliet, contractor Jacob Royers built a stone windmill in 1822. It operated without interruption until 1947. He was succeeded as owner in 1965 by Alfons Van de Moer-Van Hoydonck, miller in Berendrecht. He sold the mill in 1980 to baker Antoon Verbraak with a view to a complete restoration. This came after a long agony, in 1989 the roof was restored and only in 1996 the mill was milled again. After the sudden death of Antoon Verbraak, the mill came to a standstill again. Until 2004, his son Patrick had the mill run by volunteer millers, who milled grain for animal feed and for the baker. Currently (2008) the mill is standing still, hopefully one day there will be movement again because it is even more beautiful when it grinds.
