Description

A little to the north of our route (about 400 m), it’s worth leaving the route at node 72 towards node 73 (not part of the route) to take a look at the Luizenmolen mill a little higher up. This mill is a symbolic highlight of the traditionally agricultural area that we have cycled through since the start of this route. It is in fact a replica of a windmill that stood in the same place between 1864 and 1955. The gently undulating landscape south-west of Brussels lent itself very well to the use of wind mills. The valleys were the ideal location for the construction of water mills. The replica was built in 1996 and listed as heritage in 2007. The mill is in working order and can also be visited in season!
