* Site of the so-called "Kruiskalsydemolen" with mill hull, miller's house and mill yard. The mill hull is protected as a monument by M.B. of 04.04.1995 and the immediate surroundings as a village view by virtue of the same M.B. First half of the 17th century: construction of a wooden post mill. It is not certain how long this wooden stake mill will remain in operation: on the Atlas der Buurtwegen (ca. 1843) only a mill mound is indicated, while on the map of Ph. Vandermaelen (ca. 1850) a mill again appears. Ca. 1871: I. de Backer builds a new stone scaffolding mill to replace the wooden "Kruisvaartmolen". 17 October 1914: the mill is partially blown up by the Belgian army, destroying the sails and the fortification. After the First World War: the mill was truncated to the former scaffolding (approx. 12 m) and the mill tub was set up as a mechanical mill. To house the drive of the mechanical mill, a small outbuilding under a gable roof was built against the mill hull. Early 1970s: the mechanical mill is shut down. Mill hull. Yellow brick (22 x 10.5 x 6 cm) hull of a former windmill on a mill hill bordered by a brick wall and accessible via ditto stairs. Round-arched gate access with double hinged door and fan-shaped fanlight. Furthermore, round-arched wall openings with preserved woodwork. Attached red brick volume under gable roof (Flemish tiles) with rectangular window openings and sliding gate. Equipment: two grinding stones (from the "Hovaeremolen" in Koekelare), oat crusher and bean crusher. Belt drive by means of semi-diesel engine from 1938 (brand Claeys, 25/30 hp, 300 rpm) Mill yard: miller's house and brick utility buildings U-shaped around cobbled yard arranged and accessible via red-painted metal gate. Parallel to the street, partly white-painted red-brick miller's house of one and a half storeys and five bays with a utility building on the right (cf. sliding gate) under a continuous tiled gable roof (Flemish tiles). With the exception of the ground floor, arched wall openings with preserved woodwork (including T-windows). Yard façade side with preserved gutter moulding on bobbins and loading window accessible via wooden staircase at the level of the utility building. Perpendicular to the miller's house, low utility building with rectangular wall openings (concrete lintels). Furthermore: stable and barn volume under gable roof (mechanical tiles).
