The castle of Jonckholt is an unfinished construction site of a medieval castle near Hoelbeek. The plans were drawn, but only the moats, ramparts and foundations were realized. Jonckholt was probably originally an allodium, which was annexed by the County of Loon in the 11th or 12th century. Then it was issued as a fief, and from the 14th century onwards this fief included, in addition to Jonckholt, Hoelbeek and Groenendaal. The lords of Jonckholt were related to the Hamal family from 's Herenelderen. In 1288 this genus was mentioned for the first time.
