In 1633 the mill was built as an oil mill, and around 1700 Peter Galdermans was the owner. This miller family stayed at the mill for a long time. In 1841 Nicolaas Galdermans applied for permission to change the interior of his oil mill and thus to turn it into a grain mill, since it was almost completely out of work due to the ceded land to Holland and no longer yielded any benefits to the addressee. Apparently, as a result of the Belgian war of secession, a large part of the market had been lost. In 1841 the present mill house was also built; The miller's house dates from 1735. In 1850 the mill was split. The wheel now operated both an oil and a grist mill. In 1905 the oil mill was stopped, in its place came a second grinding device, for buckwheat. The wheel even powered a threshing machine.
