Statue of Peter Benoit (1834-1901) placed at the entrance of the city park (Marktstraat no. 29). The statue was designed by sculptor Alfred Courtens and was inaugurated in 1951 in honour of the fiftieth anniversary of the musician's death. In 1994 the statue was restored by the company Vermeire-Vermeire. During the redevelopment of the city park in 1999-2000, the circular pond in front of the statue was replaced by the current pond with fountains.
