The Swan Mountain
The place where the FORUM Dorpsstraat 44-46 now stands, used to be called 'de Zwanenberg', the highest point of the village. Together with the house no. 48, the building for the construction of the FORUM formed the large inn 'De Zwanenberg'. On January 22, 1799, a cross was burned on this spot by some Sansculottes. They stole it from Kruisberg and ride on horseback with the cross on their shoulder via Gestel to here. They are called 'iconoclasts' by G.J. Verhulst in his chronicle.
