Description

EN : In Southern Europe, chestnuts are grown for their fruits. A prickly husk protects the edible fruits that are eaten raw or puffed. They are also processed into puree or into flour for pastries. The wood of chestnut trees is elastic, tough and durable. It contains a lot of tanning and is very weather resistant. It can be used without treatment for fences, garden furniture and roof coverings.

FR : En Europe méridionale, les châtaigniers sont cultivés pour leurs fruits. Ceux-ci, protégés par une bogue épineuse, se mangent crus ou grillés. On en fait aussi de la purée, de la gelée et de la farine pour la pâtisserie. Le bois de châtaignier est élastique, dur et résistant. Par sa forte tenor en tanins, il peut être utilisé en plein air sans aucun traitement pour des clôtures rustiques, du mobilier de jardin et des couvertures de toits.
