The border between the Brussels and Flemish Region is swinging from one side of the Lenniksebaan to the other. Within a few hundred meters you drive from Anderlecht (Brussels Region) in Vlezenbeek (Sint Pieters-Leeuw, Flemish Region), then in Anderlecht and then again back to Itterbeek (Dilbeek, Flemish Region). You will therefore think the sequence of house numbers is nuts in this part of the Lenniksebaan because they go all directions except a logical one unless you understand the course of the border. And even the professional organizations don't get the behaviour of this border. In September 2017, the workers of Openbare Werken succeeded in placing the signs "Welcome to Flanders" on the territory of Anderlecht for the third time. Minister of Public Works Mustapha Akouz of Anderlecht was not amused. He found this mistake, the 3rd one in a row pure territorial provocation. The municipality of Anderlecht promptly removed the signs and sent the invoice to the Flemish Minister of Public Works Ben Weyts.
