You stand on the bed of the former tram line Aarschot-Tielt, which was opened on 21 January 1898 by the Nationale Maatschappij van Buurtspoorwegen. The bed is located on the edge of the Ralis forest, today still a green lung in the middle of the village. The tram, initially a coal-fired steam tram, was popularly called 'the black tram' and was composed of a locomotive, freight cars, passenger cars and a staff service car. The line was discontinued in 1953 and replaced by a bus line.
