The ginkgo or Maidenhair tree is a symbol of immutability, hope, love, magic, timelessness, and longevity. Many artists have been inspired by the Maidenhair tree. It was Goethe's favourite tree. He has cultivated and planted several hundred of them. He also wrote a sonnet about it in 1815, Gingo biloba.
