Hoksem is a hamlet of Hoegaarden, it is located on the stream that used to be the separation between two dioceses of Liège and Mechelen. The church was built in stone from Gobertange and Overlaar. This church has the characteristics of pure Gothic, the Romanesque tower dates from the 12th century. The church was enlarged and renovated in the 14th, 16th and 17th centuries. On the tower there is both a rooster and a hen, very rare in Belgium.
Every year, the St. John's Procession goes out.
