In 1890-1908, two impressive neo-Gothic wings were erected on Grotestraat and Kattestraat thanks to a donation from Gustaaf Verhaeghe. On the façade on the Kattestraat it immediately becomes clear what the original function of this wing was. Above the entrances you can see the inscriptions 'Weezenhuis voor meisjes', 'Huis voor oude vrouwen' and 'Weezenhuis voor jongens'.
The neo-Gothic façade in the Grotestraat was completely restored in 2013. The building currently serves as an Art Academy.
