Hof Sint-Elooi is a monumental farm whose origins date back to the Middle Ages when tolls were levied on this place by the lords of the Land van Gaasbeek, founded in 1236. At the turntable and the toll gate stood the Tolhuys with accompanying farm and inn. During the religious turmoil, the toll house was destroyed and the farm probably disappeared during the construction of the current stone road in 1707, as it was located within the new route. In any case, the Ferraris map of 1771-1777 no longer shows any buildings on this site. Probably in the early nineteenth century a new farm with inn "Relais Saint-Eloy" was built by the Borremans family who collected tolls here at that time.
