On The Trail Of Couven

Eupen boasts the status of being the town of Couven, the famous architect who left his mark on the landscape between the Meuse and the Rhine. Indeed, as Eupen was not affected by the bombardments of World War Two or by the large-scale demolitions of the 1960s, the town still comprises excellent works by Couven. Book a guided tour via the tourism office. It will take you to discover, among other things, the high altars of Saint Nicolas and Saint Catherine (with decorative motifs from the early Baroque period), Maison Grand Ry (the current seat of the government of the German-speaking community) or Maison Nispert (a master’s house with stables and manufacturing workshops standing in a Baroque park).
