The chapel was built in 1878 and was then no more than a wooden chapel on an oak tree. Around 1895 Frans Willems built the current stone chapel that later became the property of the Van Looy-Willems family and was maintained for 50 years by Elza Van Looy. In 1978 the centenary was celebrated. The chapel is surrounded by 14 linden trees and is dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes. In the month of May the rosary is prayed here. The land with the chapel was sold by Umicore to Jules Moereels who renewed the roof. Now the chapel is maintained and cared for by Maria Paepen and Jozefien Henderickx.
