Description

This meandering, idyllic river has its source in Merksplas. The babbling brook grows into a wide river beyond Breda. The Mark Valley is one of the three locations in Flanders where the large pimpernel grows. In August and September, the valley turns a beautiful burgundy red. At the end of the cycle path along the river, you can take a breather at a 'poising', a large boulder with an ode to the Mark Valley by poet Marc Pairon. The restored Laermolen is another atmospheric spot near the Mark.
