This monument represents the planet Jupiter. For connoisseurs, the cloud bands, the Great Red Spot and lightning discharges can be seen.
It is part of a scale model of our solar system. The scale model covers the whole of Belgium and has a length of 300km.
The Sun is at Beaulieu in Auderghem. Mercurius stands for the Cultural Centre in Auderghem. Venus is located in Watermael-Boitsfort (at 2,705m). Our own Earth with the Moon stands in front of the royal observatory of Uccle (3.7 km from the sun). Mars is in Hoeilaart.
Jupiter is located in Kampenhout-Sas. Saturn in Gembloux. Uranus is located in Tongeren. Neptune in Ostend. Pluto, the dwarf planet 147 km from the Sun in this scale model, is located in Forenville.
