A stone's throw from Ghent lies one of the best preserved landscapes in East Flanders: the valley of the Oude Kale. The alternation between lakes, coulters, meadows, fields, villages, the existing architectural heritage and the many well-preserved small landscape elements form a varied and attractive landscape that is worth exploring. Thanks to the Vallei van de Oude Kale land development project of the Flemish Land Agency, the necessary interventions were made to strengthen the existing nature, restore the landscape and increase the environmental quality. Recreational routes allow cyclists and hikers to fully enjoy the unique landscape of the Oude Kale.
