This nature reserve was once a land dune, and remnant of a heath and drifting sand area. Thieves sought refuge on these impoverished lands, far away from prying eyes. 'Scrimgeour Heights' is relatively well preserved because it was left untouched as a military training zone for decades. Now sheep and goats keep the grass short to give every chance to plants such as the heather and the sand blue. Would you like to admire them up close? That's possible, feel free to walk among the sheep!
