History goes way back in the past. The farm that now stands was built in the 17th century. The stables, which were completely destroyed by fire in 1966, have been modernized. Probably around 1690 the division of the company surfaces was carried out and thus Groot Amelgem and Klein Amelgem were created.
Legend
A farmer who had to bring in his harvest needed a shed quickly. So he sold his soul to the devil, who promised him that he would build a barn one night. For the first crowing, the barn had to be ready. When the rooster crowed for the first time in the morning, the barn was not yet finished; There was still a hole in the wall. This allowed the farmer to keep his soul.
