Description

Here an "exciting switch" has been made to be able to cross the barbed wire of this meadow. The English name for such a switch is a country stile. In the UK they are very popular, but since 2022 farmers have been urged to replace the stiles with fences. They are therefore small staircase constructions to be able to step over a fence. But they are not always easy to take by people with disabilities, or people who are out with strollers. It did spark a debate, because the farmers find those stiles much safer than fences to keep the animals within the pasture. Because fences can be left open. And then you also have the charm of those stiles, and the cost of replacing all this. The discussion is ongoing.
