Welcome to Astro’s world, which is teeming with optical illusions. The Paris-based artist tackled three façades of apartment buildings for the Antwerp Baroque 2018 city festival. He created a combination of lines and depths, to create a 3D image.

Some artists find painting 2D murals very restrictive. Astro ended up developing his own style, in which 3D, abstract figures combine to create a unique impression. His characteristic style contributed to his international portfolio. As the number of street artists is steadily growing, it is not easy to be original and stand out. But Astro has succeeded in doing just that. He also proves that a contemporary art form such as street art can have surprising roots. His work refers to the chiaroscuro technique that was so popular during the Baroque.

Astro’s colourful murals add an extra dimension to the area. The lines and location of the buildings are part of the viewing experience. Astro plays with the geometry of his figures and the façades on which they were painted. You can only truly experience the set of three works onsite.
