Playground Nieuwenhovebos

This gateway is part of Expedition Nieuwenhovebos, one of the five expeditions of Expedition Bulskampveld.

Expedition Nieuwenhovebos catapults you back to the Bronze Age. Discover what life was like in the beautiful forest. Prepare a vegetable dish in the cooking area or offer an offering in the temple by the water. Can you climb to the attic of the Bronze Age house? Eek! What's in the well? Of course you first have to go through the time gate at the start! It is a spectacular and stimulating walking route with lots of play forest and nature along the way. Playgrounds invite you to have fun and in the meantime you will learn something about our ancestors about 3000 years ago. In the area around Nieuwenhove remains of burial mounds were discovered. Those burial mounds are recreated in two play mounds that welcome you at the start of the expedition.

Expedition Bulskampveld stands for five child-friendly hiking trails. The initiative, initiated by Tourism Brugse Ommeland and Westtoer, is intended to bring young families and their friends back to nature. Together they discover the wooded area of the Bulskampveld Landscape Park in an adventurous and playful way. The walking loops can be found in Kruiskerke (Ruiselede), Sint-Pietersveld (Wingene), Driekoningen (Beernem), Nieuwenhovebos (Oostkamp) and Domein Menas (Sint-Maria-Aalter).

Expedition Bulskampveld are child-friendly walking loops of 2.5 and 3 km, where you can experience the forest in a different way. Children from 4 to 12 years old and their company can always fully enjoy the climbing gear and discovery games . All walking loops are indicated by the symbol of a cheerful bull. He shows you the way and gives you cool assignments. The bull was not just chosen as a symbol. After all, the name Bulskampveld comes from the Germanic 'Bulnas Campa', which in turn means 'field of the bulls'.
