Description

In the 17th century Scherpenheuvel was the most important place of pelgrimage of the Spanish Netherlands. Queen Christina of Sweden visited the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwe-basiliek in the fall of 1655 during her journey from Brussel to Rome. It caused quite some disturbance, because – besides very few people who dealt in the conspiracy – no one knew, that at that very moment she had already changed her Lutheran faith for Catholicism.
